Banter follows the results, with variations to keep things fresh. Awards depend on what happened, so you won’t see every award in every match.

  • Get the group on board, then turn on Toxic Mode during setup.
  • One voice: Savage. Official scores and standings stay the same.
  • Share the story and awards in FOM Rewind.

The jokes are about the game, not personal matters. If someone isn’t comfortable, leave Toxic off.

BIRTHDAY MODE

A birthday worth showing up for.

Play together, open a birthday message, and keep the memories.

A little birthday surprise

Turn on Birthday Mode during setup, then choose the birthday star: a player, the host, or a friend watching from the side.

When the match ends, open the story and birthday letter together. Add group photos for a more personal Birthday Rewind.

Does it change the score or MMR?

No. Match results stay the same. Birthday Mode adds wishes, a birthday story, and a special Rewind.

What about Toxic banter?

Birthday Mode uses the Savage Toxic setting. Make sure your friends are comfortable with the banter. The host can turn Birthday Mode off before the match ends.

Getting started
Which sports can I play?

Padel, Tennis, and Badminton. Choose your sport when creating a match. Playing formats and scoring options follow that sport.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Open FOM Play in your phone’s browser. You can also add it to your home screen on supported devices.

Is it free?

FOM Play’s core features are currently free to try. Open the app to see the features available on your account.

Can friends join without an account?

Yes. The host can add guests by name. They appear in the schedule and standings, but their results do not count towards a FOM account’s MMR.

Scores & sharing
Do friends need to sign in to see scores?

No. Share the match link with your group. Friends can view results while the host remains in control of score changes.

Why hasn’t the score changed on my friend’s phone?

The viewer updates when part of the match finishes, such as a round, game, or set depending on the format. It does not update with every score tap.

What is FOM Rewind?

A set of slides telling your match story. Add group photos, choose story or feed, then save or share after the match ends.

Can we pay our share through FOM?

Rooms helps record costs, each person’s share, and payment status. Payments still happen outside FOM.

How is MMR different from match standings?

Standings show the results of one session with your group. Padel MMR tracks progress across matches and is used for the leaderboard.

When does MMR change?

After the host finishes the match and the results have been processed. Join as a player with your FOM account so eligible game results count towards your MMR.

Can my MMR drop if I lose?

Yes. Wins, draws, losses, and opponent context affect Padel MMR. Open MMR History to see the change from each game.

Do Tennis and Badminton have MMR too?

Automatic MMR and leaderboards are currently available for Padel. Tennis and Badminton results are recorded separately, including singles and doubles, but don’t yet change MMR.

Toxic & Birthday
How many Toxic levels are there?

One: Savage. The banter follows match results, with different lines to keep it fresh. Check that everyone is comfortable before turning it on.

Can we turn Toxic Mode off?

Yes, before the match ends. If Birthday Mode is active, turn it off first to release its Toxic setting.

Does the birthday star have to play?

No. Pick a player, the host, or a friend watching from the side. Someone who is not playing stays out of the schedule and standings.

Can we use our own photos?

Yes. Add photos when you create FOM Rewind. If you don’t have any, illustrations will still tell the story.
